"SFR's Data Warehouse: Better Customer Insight with Usage Data"
BI Director - SFR.
For more than 20 years, Alain Fortune acted as projects manager, consultant, CTO or CIO in a various set of companies ranging from press editing, television and multimedia, DSL suppliers, mobile service providers or sheer internet start-ups.
In these different situations, he always put the stress on the quality of the “intelligence” system as a key component to build strategic reflexions and lead tactical decision making. He brought to life many BI platforms on different technologies and use cases: real-time sales analytics, customer value and behaviour scoring for “active” customer handling, process optimization,…
Since 2008, he is in charge of the Business Intelligence at SFR.
This session will discuss how SFR -Europe's largest alternative telecommunications operator- has been using Teradata as a customer knowledge repository for the past 10 years and how this platform fits in SFR's BI environment.
More recently, SFR started adding online data in the Datawarehouse to benefit from the offline and online synergy, therefore improving customers' insight by knowing their usage.
Through this mobile content analytics project, SFR is now able to stimulate non voice revenue by understanding success of content services. Indicators are being fed to CRM tools, enabling targeting of content by type to specific targets.
Trends as well as how this can be done while being compliant with EU requirements will also be discussed.
Following the merger between SFR and Neuf Cegetel, the new SFR is now Europe’s largest alternative telecommunication operator, with a revenue of almost 12 billion euros in 2008 and a customer base of nearly half of all French people.
As a global operator, SFR is capable of satisfying the mobile services, fixed and Internet needs of the mass market and of business and wholesale customers. At end August 2009, SFR had more than 20 million mobile customers and more than 4 million broadband Internet households.
With 10 000 employees, SFR benefits from a stable ownership structure, with two major shareholders, Vivendi (56%) and Vodafone (44%).
