Dr. Gerd Wolfram has been part of the METRO Group for the past 20 years and during this time has held several executive management positions before becoming Head of CIO-Office in June 2009. In this central function he is responsible for IT Governance, IT Transparency, IT Compliance and the alignment of the different IT systems and solutions for the whole METRO Group.
His career at METRO Group, one of the most important international retailing companies, began at Galeria Kaufhof, the department stores of the Group, where he was responsible for the IT operations.
He then moved on to MGI METRO Group Information Technology GmbH, the group’s IT service provider, where he first was in charge of IT Strategy & IT Buying before then becoming Member of the Board being responsible for Advanced Technologies & Finance.
Further, he was also a key driver and promoter of the Future Store Initiative, one of the most innovative projects of the Group. With renowned partner companies this initiative drives the development of modern technologies and systems in the retailing sector and offers a platform for testing under real-live conditions.
